Yes, RIP. Putting politics to one side, which is difficult, isn't it? Let's give the man credit for shaking Australia out of its lethargy and for entertaining us with such colourful characters as Jim Cairns, Al Grassby, 'Diamond Jim' McClelland, Rex Connor, Clyde Cameron, Lionel Murphy and, of course Tirath Khemlani, not to mention a host of others and their antics. Much has been written, erroneously, about 'the dismissal'. When the people had their say it was: Gone Gough, emphatically, no more rage maintained.
Nonetheless, a sad day for everyone interested in politics. The memories, for those of us who were there, are still clear and strong.
