Also, another problem with business in PNG, especially for those companies who are percieved by the locals of being a greedy foreign entity (ie, BCL), is that it is so hard to get everyone (affected villages) on side. There will almost always be someone that feels they are getting a raw deal and oppose. This makes is so hard to finalise an agreement.
Investing is BCL is unbeliveably risky. A possible end result is BCL end up with nothing but what they have currently as liquid assets on their balancesheet.
