I am seeking clarification regarding switching my SMSF from having my wife and I as trustees to a company trustee. As I understand it, the investments need to be in the name of the company, not the individual members. Hence in moving to a corporate trustee would mean changing the names of ownership of the investments.
A friend has a SMSF with a corporate trustee but investments are in the names of members. I was surprised to hear of this and felt that intuitively the fund would not be compliant.
