Yes, the possibilities are amazing. But I think the really big general public advance will come when ordinary people realise that they can simply have bitcoin (effectively) in the phones, and can buy stuff with them by simply scanning a code. They can transfer money from their banks to their phones by Bpay the same as they would pay any bill, and away they go.

At present I think that many people are put off by all the technical jargon. It is not necessary for them to know anything about mining to actually buy and sell stuff with their own bitcoin.

And if the value of bitcoin in their phone goes up as the bitcoin price goes up, then that's a bonus.

It really is a whole lot simpler than the geeks tell us.
