    I'm sorry, but I don't buy the post-modernist BS about opinions having inherent value. An opinion, like a scientific hypothesis, can be tested by experiment, or reference to facts. If the opinion is inconsistent with the data, it is wrong, and should be discarded, regardless of our personal preferences.

    It is your "understanding (hypothesis) that gold has (retains?) value when paper currency loss (loses?) value quickly". Which paper currency are you talking about? Can you demonstrate that the price of gold behaves in the way you claim when the particular "paper" currency you nominate falls in value?
