They are going to focus on higher margin products (e.g. packages, cruises etc). For those who don't know, air fares are very low to no margin. For instance if a customer walks in and buys a domestic Virgin fare from a travel agent, the travel agent may charge a service fee of $20 but the sale may take up to an hour due to a chatty customer. So the agent may actually make nothing contributing towards their pay packet.
Things like cruises, hotels, insurance and holiday packages offer better commissions.
For disclosure puposes, I work for a competing travel retailer. When their share price first listed it was $0.85 - $0.95 many years ago
