Alexium International Group Limited (Alexium) (ASX: AJX) (OTCQX: AXXIY) announced today that it has expanded its success in the transportation markets by engaging two additional customers in commercialization and scale-up activities in that sector. With these new customers, Alexium is now engaged with five different transportation upholstery manufacturers in various stages of the commercialization and scale-up process with a total potential annual sales volume of $10 million.
These manufacturers span the transportation market: wool-based public transportation fabrics; backings for leather upholstery substitutes; and automotive body cloth for both domestic and high-end foreign automakers. Two of these opportunities are for Alexium's new wool treatment, which is a brand new proprietary chemistry that provides exceptional FR performance and durability, while the others are interested in our Alexiflam™ chemistry used in a back coating application. After seeing potential in the transportation market, Alexium developed this back coating solution, which can be directly dropped in as a replacement to halogenated chemistry, minimizing disruption to those customers' production.
"Although the modern textile manufacturer has developed a clear eye on innovation and new products as a necessity for sustained growth, the textile industry still has the traditional core operational foundations of quality and on-time delivery. That will never change," stated Dirk Van Hyning, Alexium's General Manger of Operations. "That's what makes the commercialization process for these customers so deliberate. We have structured our operations to make sure the implementation of our exciting new chemistries blend seamlessly with our respective customers' needs and production processes, and to date each trial has successfully progressed to the next stage."
"We are pleased that the transportation industry has verified the need for our eco-friendly flame retardant treatments," remarked CEO Nicholas Clark. "This is an industry that is continually looking for replacements of halogenated chemistry, and we are an obvious solution to their needs."
