Auckland Airport welcomes increase in air service access rights with China
Auckland Airport welcomes the new Memorandum of Understanding between New
Zealand and China that sees significant improvements in air service access
rights between the two countries.
Charles Spillane, Auckland Airport's general manager corporate affairs, says
he is delighted with the new agreement as it reinforces the commitment both
countries have to continuing to strengthen their relationship.
"The new Memorandum of Understanding agrees to a doubling of capacity under
the current air services agreement, with the maximum number of flights
between New Zealand and China increasing from 21 to 42 per week, per
country," says Mr Spillane.
"This is a great outcome for our tourism industry and our economy as it
allows for increased air services between New Zealand and China, one of our
fastest growing tourism markets."
"This Memorandum of Understanding is a fantastic result and will be critical
to ensuring the continued growth of the Chinese market. We congratulate the
Ministry of Transport on this significant achievement," finishes Mr Spillane.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed in Bali last week by
representatives from both countries.
