Watching the debate in parliament, I saw Abbott trying to goad Shorten into committing to reversing the cuts or increasing funding for the ABC; but Shorten wouldn't make such a commitment. Abbott then proceeded to change the debate about him lying to about Shorten being a hypocrite for criticising the cuts, but not committing to reversing it.
