So just to be clear, WRR has designed and manufactured for Iridium a device that enables your smart phone/tablet to work outside of cellular reception coverage.
GO basically creates a wi-fi hotspot that enables smartphones to work anywhere in the world.
It is NOT a satellite phone; and it was NOT designed for the purpose of enabling super-fast downloads, so unfortunately you are not able to relax and watch a movie after you have just climbed Mt Everest. Although Iridium's NEXT infrastructure will enable data-link speeds approaching 1 Mb/sec
GO means rather than needing a separate satellite phone, anyone can use their existing smartphone, at a pretty low price point - thus the comment from Iridium about how this opens up a whole new potential market.
According to Iridium, it simplifies global communications for:
Pilots, boaters and truckers
Adventurers and explorers
Remote residents and vacationers
Emergency and first responders
Global and business travelers
Global enterprise
Executives and diplomats
Foreign missions Government and NGOs
Military operations
M2M applications
Anyone out of cellular range
