That would be true OTB, if power was the only consideration. The Sydney/Wollongong/Newcastle metropolis or Melbourne/Geelong metropolis of the future, will have a population that rivals the present size of mega cities such as London, New York or Los Angeles. It will need a lot more power but just as importantly, much more freshwater.

I am not sure how much bigger they can make Warragamba Dam but I am thinking it is close to maximum capacity now, otherwise they would not have built a desalination plant at Kurnel (could be retrofitted with CETO desalination??).
