My answer is not in a 100 years will the government cancel the private health care rebate.
The rebate is relatively new (since 2001?) but is fairly well entrenched. I wouldn't be opposed from a personal point of view to it being removed from ancillary services. Government does not need to prop up 30% for things like optical/dental and physio as it is not taking anything from the public system.
