Bendigo are merging with credit unions which I believe is a good policy, whilst customer bases are relatively low for one credit union, several of them can make quite a difference.
There are people who prefer credit unions over banks and industry/government department credit unions are an easier way to have money from wages to be deposited or maybe an amount decided upon.
I know this happens because when I worked for the Queensland government my pension is deposited into the Queenslanders credit union, actually when I was an employee it was called the Queensland Public Servants Employees Credit Union, now that's a mouthful.
Bendigo, is Elders still part of the Bendigo portfolio? I believe the bank of Cyprus still is.
