I understand your rationale completely, but that's really my point, because by a few bucks you really mean a few hundred bucks, for what, maybe 10 minutes effort.
And why associate the money you could have made with the previous loss, just because its with the same stock?
(Free) money is just money, wherever it comes from.
Even if the amount was too ho hum you could have punted extra on shorting a bit more than your entitlement with no real risk either, i.e. go for double or nothing.

Anyway, I am also disappointed with the stock and understand why you want to be rid of it, however I would say in closing that if anyone is having a colonoscopy with you I would urge them to check their subsequent movements for loose change that you leave behind.
