You underestimate the world coverage. Tens of millions will only cover the UK, which is where I am at the moment. It was perma-news on sky, there was literally NO OTHER NEWS yesterday, rolling coverage, we saw the same five people escape continuously. My daughter was asked when buying stamps "You're Australian, you heard the news?"
I agree, should have let him doze off. He was never serious, IMO, it would have just fizzled out. But, difficult to criticise when you weren't there.
