    Yep, same Tas Walker.

He has a decent knowledge of Qld geology (ie what rocks are where) but displays very poor critical reasoning ability in his published work.

I read a couple of papers published by him in the "Journal of Creation" and they were laughable. A real journal would never have accepted them. I also read his letters to PESA News, where the editors tried to give him a fair go in the interest of objectivity, but were forced to shut the conversation down because he made a fool of himself.

This whole thread is just cherry-picking. There must be a million PhDs in the world, it's quite possible to find a handful who are religious and don't believe in evolution (particularly when, like Dr Walker, his PhD isn't even in anything vaguely related to geology). In the same way you can find a few fossils that don't fit the theory, either because the theory is complete or something else unexpected has happened. But to make the argument made here, you have to ignore the millions of other PhDs for whom evolution is self-evident, and the millions of other fossils which clearly show this.

Unfortunately, confronting the idea that Genesis is a lie (and its subsequent impact on their life-long beliefs) is too heavy for an emotional burden for many to make (including those here). Just because they have a PhD in an unrelated field doesn't change that fact.

Some of the people I respect most in the world are friends who found the courage to challenge their 'faith' and had the veil of their religious indoctrination lifted from their eyes. Some are still religious but not literal Creationists, others are now atheists. But they displayed amazing strength to do it - I guess not everybody can be that strong.
