I simply think that the selling has dried up and as I said the other day as soon as there is a significant turnaround EVERONE sitting on the sidelines will jump in. Sell side quite thin which helps. The "holiday season" from now to late January is often quite good as sellers/shorters/fundies are on holidays so stocks can run on relatively light volume.
Helps that oil jumped 4.5% and the DOW has been hitting records. Fear of a fall in the US has abated with Feb support for low rates. This perfect storm just needs a good news announcement to raelly see some action!
