    I put this up purely as a bit of very long term speculation.

    Personally I think the future for cars is fuel cell technology. If so, the World will be looking for Hydrogen in cheap abundance. UCG is a good place to start that search. Process the gas for hydrogen and capture the carbon [for perhaps use in the emerging carbon nano tech]. It is a long way off but that is a plausible scenario IMO
