Referendum on immigration now

Given , Australia is our country, dont we have the right to determine who comes here and what that entails?
Politicians play deadly games with open borders and potential terrorists coming in and yet we don't get a real say? we fired rudd and gillard for incompetence, but its a costly mess they created.
These politicians wanted referendums on political rubbish, but nothing on something this serious?
We should limit immigration to those who will intergrate and bring skills. They need to learn English and are not allowed on entitlements beyond a certain time frame. They need to become 'Australian' and if they dont; deport them. Its like a contract, sign it upfront and stick to it or else. If you do this properly, they bring some assets so they never go on the dole. We should also allow in some refugees and help them, but that percentage needs to looked at carefully. We are willing to allow Chinese nationals in if they bring $5m but we take broke muslims who wont intergrate and stick them straight on entitlements? go figure that brilliant bit of logic out. Thanks to labor and the greens, it was big , costly, deadly business as usual. Right Charlies.
