Just got back from that part of the world on Friday!! Hiking/trekking paradise, loved every minute particularly southern parts of the south island! Tongariro Crossing on the north was amazing also. Heading over to eastern Europe and Scandinavia in a couple of months with the highlights being trekking in northern Norway and Iceland.

Regarding insurance, the point Im making is to make sure that one has health cover when on the road. I know plenty of folk who don't get covered when they travel which is not very wise imo. Seems like you have it sorted though!!
