When I read Johnno's original post in the context of the thread I read it as supporting the removal of rail crossings as they had seen the benefits to traffic flow in his or her area.
I've seen similar benefits where I live. 3 major crossings removed with one rail bottle neck still to go.
I has made a huge difference to traffic flow.
