I did look at ALF mid/late last year when I was buying in to LICs. I didn't understand the whole concept of the fund and it just seemed to me to be too good to be true what with high divi and big premium to NTA. I did email the company but never heard anything back (unlike Wilson Asset Management who were on to it straight away when I had a query) so they didn't exactly instill confidence.

Are they an "opportunity of a lifetime?" at this price, dunno, but someone who understands the fund concept may be able to answer. What are those sayings about 'if sounds to good to be true' and 'if you don't understand the investment don't invest in it'.

I ended up buying CDM, FGX, PIC and WAX, will buy DUI as a defensive LIC holding quality blue chip stocks, when I get a bit more money, for some reason it's trading about 6% under NTA and paying 4% + franking.
