There is no contradiction. Even humans have adopted a 'statue of limitation.'

When addressing simple people simple concepts were used to make it as clear to the masses as possible. There are no words in existence that can describe what this 'God' is, thinks, feels or might be. Saying that God is jealous conveys a necessary understanding to uneducated people.

If it helps to say God is black here and later say God is white there it is merely conveying an understanding. People, even then in a relatively ignorant state compared to todays general state understood that God was not literally jealous but it gave them a concept they could grasp.

It is impossible to extract complete understanding of the Bible from a forensic examination looking for anomalies.

Anomalies may exist in words but not in concepts. It was the right language for its time and that time has past. Why bother trying to cast dispersions on an ancient work that was profound for its age.
