Yeah all conveyors of any size and weight have a brake otherwise the weight of goods on it should a drive gear break ends up speeding backwards and when some are km long and have hundreds of tons of ore on them it can get very nasty very fast . Also stops overspeed and applied in emergency stop situations but there are other non on road providers for all those other applications. What I always saw as the ABV advantage was the simplicity of not having multiple plates and just a disc and caliper- so simple and easy and reasonably compact.
