About three or four years ago I posed the question, "could a buoy be constructed out of non metallic material?"
Ironically, that is exactly what DCNS tried to do with CETO 4. As we all know, that did not end well.
Perhaps someone with an marine engineering background might be able to give an opinion on whether there are alternatives. I was thinking of fibreglass, plastic, ceramic etc.
What about 3D printing?
If they can build a boat using this method, what about a rustproof buoyant actuator?
