I think you are right about this being a false oil rally and the euphoria of interest rate cuts artificially inflating the markets. I'm thinking once BHP goes ex dividend it will be good shorting again. IMO the Saudis are not done yet when it comes to oil and china is not wanting to pay top dollar for iron ore.
