fa says mxg taking the knock. They have lashed on Hollandia for 7m pounds and face a strike and now they are trying to do the FA out of their money. Familiar sound of MXG refusing to pay up. No excuse for Wembley delays: FA
April 03, 2006
THE UK Football Association considers to be baseless Multiplex's argument that "design changes" have caused the mounting delays at Wembley Stadium, according to a London newspaper report.
The Observer yesterday said FA chiefs were not worried by threats of legal action by Multiplex.
"They view the Australian company's claims that they will go to court themselves as a tactic designed to distract attention from the delays that have beset the construction and an attempt to force the FA to drop their demands," the newspaper said.
It has been reported separately that Multiplex has withheld late-delivery penalty payments for non-completion of Wembley in a dispute that threatens to go to court.
The contract between the FA and Multiplex stipulates payment of $343,000 per day for each day beyond the original January 31 delivery date.
