Dont forget the Japs are involved also, whilst the Chinese are trying to dominate proceedings. CVRD are playing the Bad Cop routine, whilst BHP hangs back.
Since the deal is not done, it plays in favor of Fe producers as the spot price is very high. If the Chinese reduce steel output that is very good for the world steel price, which seems to be moving up currently.
Looks like higher prices all round, which is why BHP + RIO are strongly up today.
