I had a bet with someone who said that no missiles would be fired at Baghdad. I said otherwise.

I'll have a bet with you that not only will the war not be over by midweek but at some stage people are going to have to get real about the TV commenatry of explosions in Baghdad.

This isn't some country town.

Its a population centre of around five million people - almost 60% bigger than Melbourne.

Where are all the people and weaponry? Where they sitting in the offices and government buildings waiting to get blown away? I'm not a military person but I'm not a military person but I'll bet you lots of deserted buildings just got demolished.

And the fully mobilized Iraqi army has considerably more men and tanks than the coalition forces whether they be better trained and better equipped or not.

So a couple of thousand have surrendered. So what. Where are the rest?

Yep, you guessed it. Mixed in amongst the civilian population.

If the coalition wants Baghdad they will either have to starve them out or go in and get them.

That should make for rather unappetizing political fodder don't you think?
