When and how many shares are completely based on your individual preferences and opinions. Don't let anyone tell you there is a good/bad time to buy/sell/average up/average down. There is only a level of risk associated with each decision and the potential rewards/losses associated with that risk.
I know thats not helpful, but for your own piece of mind it needs to be your decision, one you can live with, learn from and hopefully earn from.
It should also depend on your current financial buffers and diversification. You shouldn't get over-invested into any one stock, no matter how good it is. Nor should you be living paycheck to paycheck sacrificing your life-style to fund averaging up of a speculative stock.
