The US future certainly play a part. They open as far as I am aware at 11:00 WSDST & today when they opened down about 100 was when the ASX mkt went from up 12 odd to down 14. Those with the right connections obviously get the news before my slow system. Japan however was up over 200 even thou US futures were down so other causes were relevant to the nikkei probably the 20% trade surplus announced today.
