HI mark , all heavy machinery hates to sit idle regardless of the condition when shut down ,( when electrical circuits are off line they attract moisture) transfer pumps , conveyor and plant electric motor windings attract moisture ,bearings seize, corrosion/rust takes place every wear especially in the wet and high humidity , sediment residue sits in pipes , sumps etc and can be all most impossible to flush requiring full pipe work section change outs or strip down and recon , electrical distribution centre breakers switchboards circuits etc all have to be proven and hate moisture and can dead short on start up , many issues will confront production crews on initial start up .
When leaving electrical equipment , especially three phase power generation should have CONSTANT electrical circuit warming in place when idle in the wet season .
much can be prevented with good care and maint , but not all ,it all costs and the longer it sits the more likely you will have many start up issues .
