" In Australia we consider life very precious"

Actually ameliustag, that's a bit of a miscobception.

The Australian gov doesn't consider life "precious"

I don't think sentencing child rapusts to 1 year in prison as thinking we consider life "precious"

I don't think sentencing a 19yo charged up on ice to 18 months prison time (weekend release after 1 year) for stabbing and killing an 18yo is thinking we consider life " precious".

I don't think giving drug dealers and traffickers light sentences when so many people out there are dying and committing horrific acts of violence on ice is "precious".

I don't think australia which sentences a bloke to 4 years prison for deliberately king hitting a defenceless man and killing him is considered "precious".

Actually, I would argue that allowing a man to stab his wife 12 times and have his charge downgraded to a stint of about 10 years because our law said he "provoked" him because she said she was leaving him is FAR FAR from our country valuing or finding life "precious".

I think you and many have the word "precious" all mixed up.

Maybe, Indonesia find the lives of the 50 who die per day from drugs as more "precious" than a trafficker.

Perhaps you and everyone is very confused. I find the life and well being of a little innocent child more precious than anything. We obviously don't!!!! Otherwise we wouldn't give slap over the wrist to drug traffickers, rapists, murderers etc.

We sit in judgement of Indonesia because they hold their kids lives "precious" in a country where most drug users are kids. Perhaps the Indos are laughing at us for believing a criminals life is so much more "precious" than the lives of innocent victims.

Be careful saying we "value" life when our laws and punishments often proves otherwise.

How on earth anyone can hold australia up as a beacon of morality when basically condone raping children with one or two year sentences just defies belief.

We shoukd be ashamed of our hypocracy claiming the moral high ground.
