My rellies ditched their phone line and now use cable. Works great. Telstra had told then that their line rental was going to be increased to $32 a month, but they would generously offer to decrease it to $30 per month if they agreed to a twelve month contract. When they said they would ditch the line Telstra realised that they weren´t totally stupid and offered them $18 per month line rental and numerous other incentives but by that stage it was too late, and the deal still fell well short of the engin service they now use.

btw, I heard about Telstra´s fantastic $300 per month stand alone adsl deal exclusively for business customers from a friend who works in the it industry.
