The Togolese Foreign Minister continues his visit to Australia. After talks in Canberra with the political authorities, Robert Dussey is in Perth for the economic component of this trip. He was at his side representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Togo. This illustrates the principle of economic diplomacy promoted by the head of state.
In the morning, a round table was held with officials of the Australia Africa Business Council of Australia and Africa Mining Industry Group) on the development of the mining sector in Togo. Phosphates, of course, but also the potential for prospecting.
Mr. Dussey then met Kerry Sanderson, Governor of Western Australia. The economy of this state is centered on mining including that of oil.
Two interviews were conducted in the afternoon. The first with Brendan Augustine, director of the International Department of the Woodside Energy company and the second with Mike Ralston, CEO of Balamara Resources, a company specializing in the exploitation of phosphates.
The visit to Perth ended with an exchange of experiences between Togo and Australia on maritime security and the fight against piracy.
Lome to host next November an international conference on this theme.
