It is interesting that BioPower Systems have developed their own underwater hydraulic power conversion unit (250 kW ‘O-Drive’) utilising Bosch Rexroth equipment. The conversion principle must be identical with what Aquamarine and CWE are hoping to use and for which they have engaged Rexroth to investigate and develop. The connection seems a bit incestuous even though they are all competing with one another. It could also be considered as an inevitable convergence in design.

BioPower already have the pressure vessel into which the entire generation equipment is fitted. Deployment of the 250kW system is expected later this year. Perhaps MO had his nose pressed close to their window?
