Ouch! that's a little harsh.
On the plus side though, SIR-Spheres is, and remains, an effective treatment for Liver Cancer. So kudos to the scientists for developing that.
It just so happens that we now know for patients with mCRC and secondary liver cancer, SIR-Spheres is not a useful addition to the current first-line treatment. Their liver cancer might be stunted (hence the statistically significant result in the secondary outcome) but the patients die first of CRC or some other metastatic cancer.
But we only know this through a long and expensive trial. I'm not sure how more effective Corporate Governance would change this process - I think the real issue is that people (including those within SRX) got over-excited and over-hyped about probable success.
