Almost all open pits have water seepage. They have pumps to get rid of this water. The water in the image doesn't cover much of an area. It may only be several feet deep - this is not a big issue. Water pumps were developed many years ago and I am sure that RED would have this covered. A storm in a tea cup, or tea spoon!
