This gives us the 'high temperature applications' portion of the market ie. Applications that require high temperature resistance, pretty sure previous announcements mention refractory materials. The expandable factor combined with the favourable thermal characteristics means it's also very good for things like firedoors, elevator shaft lining (TK LOI?) for the sealing of penetrations in the case of a fire and confining it to a single level.

A good little slideshow outlining refractory applications can be found below (download the iOS app for a better viewing exp.

I think how thermally resistant graphite flake comes down to purity and how it was formed geologically in the first place (it's just pressure and a whole lot of heat right?). I would assume that deposits with similar geology would all be on a very level playing field (purely talking finer grain refractory/fire retardant graphite)
