Those alternative interest loans are almost non-existent when scale is compared.
Also what would the providers of the non-interest loans do if the person who came and got the loan blew it all on the pokies in one day and then came back for a) another loan and/or b) did not pay back said loan at all ?
I think this is quite common and thus these types of charity loans really don't do any social good (unless the person who takes it up is serious about changing their life and getting out of a debt spiral - which is incredibly rare).
