The weight scale disadvantages female horses and 4 year old males to a lesser degree.
I did some analysis of the last 31 runnings of the Doncaster.
3yo old males great record - 11 wins (not including Kermadec)
3yo fillies - need to be champions 3 wins - Sunline, Emancipation and Skating
4yo males - 3or 4 winners
4yo females - poor record Private Steer
5yo+ males - 7 or 8 winners
5 yo + females poor record 1 or 2 winners More Joyous including Sunline as a 6yo
In the absence of any quality 3 yo males, look for older males with form usually WFA. Only champion females can win the race.
Adam Blencowe from Timeform does an analysis on RSN radio. This is an excellent tool when doing form particularly when the good races are on.
FYI I backed both Kermadec and Hallowed Crown
Good punting
