I remember reading that paper but I obviously did not take in everything. The paper indicates that the prototype Chip was probably not connected to an ASIC.
@howmanyru please ignore my earlier statement 'I think he also mentioned it was connected to an ASIC' that appears to be incorrect, he probably stated that the next step (as part of their development process) was to connect the chip to an ASIC.
