What you seek in investing is to outlay your funds with the reasoned probability of receiving in return a larger sum of funds in the future.
If hope is anywhere in your investing arsenal, you really should be sure to have the majority of your funds managed professionally (at low cost) and refer to the portion you invest yourself more correctly as 'speculation' rather than 'investment' - Eternalgrowth
