re: some synonyms for imminent NSW has Broken Hill. And don't forget, NSW was WA plus heaps more, originally. Its the parts NSW throws away (WA, Vic, Qld, Tas, SA) that makes NSW the best.

Besides, NSW has vast quantities of coal. Mind boggling amounts. And of course its well know that NSW is a prospector's heaven. Its just convenient, because NSW is already rich enough, and developed enough, to make a mess of WA first and foremost.

Besides, WA needs more infrustructure. Like, when I was in Darwin I didn't continue me round Australia working holiday to Perth precisely because there was no sealed road, in 1971. I doubt anything's changed. Except its definitely more dangerous. Since then a lot of weird old men have taken up residence in that big desert state. SO they say. And there's no street lights. Like living in Sydney in 1790. Only worse. Much worse.
