The Sydney Cup 1st !!!

The race itself ?? A wipe-out!! I took $800.00 & "walked" down to the "local" and made my investments (trifecta's) as per my post, for that race! I then proceeded to drink some schooners and make many indiscriminate investments! I "STRIPPED OUT" before the cup (SR7) had been run. I then got $200.00 out of the "hole in the wall" (I "CAP" my "sports" investments these days, to $1000.00) and "chucked" the $100.00 EW on something, for a $270.00 return and threw it on the winner of the Queen Elizabeth stakes (Glen Boss rode it) and was "back in the game", so to speak!

By then, I had graduated to Bacardi & bitter lemon, my "drink" I am partial to, when I know I have had, "too much to drink"!! So, they were "going off" almost every 2-3 minutes by now and I was investing $200.00 "straight" or, $100.00 "each way" on things running around in, The Gold Coast, Werribee, Mooney Valley, Morphetville, Randwick, Eagle Farm and Ascot (?), Perth, (anyway), if it had started by then ........

I soon gathered an audience, as I was (by then) "RIDING" my "selections" out "VERY VOCALLY" !!!! "They" joined in the chorus and we even had the barmaids chanting, too!! Soon, the "snip-pers" & "urgers" (who had themselves stripped out) found me & and I was handing out $50.00 notes like "confetti", with only "verbal" promisaries, as a guarantee of any returns, in weeks to come. (I only go down the pub, every 10 weeks or, so ....these days!!)

By "cup time" I was able to put another $500.00 into the race, with "molotov" heading up ALL the "fruit salad" selections I made ..... But, it "bombed out"!!!

So, I became a little "protective" by then, thinking my "run" was ending ..... The happy "banter" was receding quickly too and I said to a fella at my table, I think I'll "chuck" $100.00 EW on the "toppie" in this race in Adelaide and "bolt" on home. I wrote out the ticket and 'half way' to the 'jump', the 'tipster' who gave me Honalee on friday night said: "This is Honalee's race, you know" .....??? I thanked him and went back to my table, discarded the "EW number ONE" ticket and wrote a new one out, for Honalee .... of course, "she's" still running and No 1 WON the race, paying over $13.00 the win!!

I bought more beers for a group of "well wishers" and become very philosophical when 'consoled' by my Honalee 'tipster' ...... I then gained a somewhat "new" strength and resolve to fight on, (or, was it a case of "old habits, die hard"?) and decided that a "thing" in Brisbane could win what was, a very "open" betting race and "stood it out" one & a half times, with the "field" to run 2nd & third!! It got beat a nose (I thought it had got there, actually) and, "surprise", "surprise", ended up getting the race, on protest!! More "beers & cheers" by & for, ALL was echoed!!

I closed my inning with $200.00 on Darren Beadman & Johnny HAWKES in the last, in Sydney on a horse that "missed the start", by two or, three lengths!! And came home & won in a tight photo!!!!!!

So, that sort of roughly explains the day, that was duly followed with "Tom YAM SOUP", "Crispy Skin Duck", "Octopus Exotic", MINI SPRING ROLLS & fried rice & a half dozen "cold" Cowboy Shots, to watch the Lions V's the Tigers!! - Who won??

But, re; QTK, I'm not sure I ever said it was a "bow wow" and if I did, I take it all back!! If you believe in it "strong enough", it will come home for you. I can't get excited in it although I do admit my thoughts center around one from the "David Hills" stable, called Looksmart!!! Good Luck!!
