Whats sad is that while this 'friend' was inside the bubble working hard to make the bubble nice he didn't care what was going on outside of it. It's only when he's at the end of his life and has the time that it's worthy of his time - and then it's only to complain.
I do see it very clearly, but sitting smugly on your pile of money and complaining about whats going on around you doesn't change anything. Doing something does make a difference - helping someone a little less fortunate might cheer him up and give him a little more energy.
