Why stop at two days? Why shouldn't the unemployed have the option of working five days a week at full wages with on the job training?
The government actually believes unemployment is necessary as an inflation fighting tool. They teach this nonsense in todays economics courses. They call this policy the NAIRU - an acronym for non-accelerating inflation rate of unemployment, which refers to a level of unemployment below which inflation rises. So the real reason they fight against the job guarantee is not that it could mean extra deficit spending, but rather because they feel they need a group of people they can point the finger at and kick around as dogs, but actually make a concerted effort to ensure that there are NO jobs available for them.
Warren Mosler's Job Guarantee Program takes anybody who shows up for work. We don't care if they just got out of gaol. The aim of the program is to prepare workers for work in the private sector. This is an employed buffer stock of workers instead of the current system where we have an unemployed buffer stock of workers.
Warren discusses the Job Guarantee at 9.24 on the video.
