The degree of certainty, personal freedom & safety in a society is directly proportional to the degree by which the rule of law is adhered to & enforced. Allowing disputes/matters to be determined outside the legal framework ie judgements made according to an individuals opinion/fancy & without recourse to the legal system, could well be seen as the thin edge of the wedge. Sound too dramatic or far fetched ? Maybe, but as Thomas Jefferson said "The cost of freedom is eternal vigilance" If u feel comfortable with a system where decisions/deals are made in back rooms by faceless men, fine, but it makes me feel uneasy - CAZ today tomorrow ?
