re: intelligent investor - tls long term buy "As for broadband being the future, yep, it is, but not from Telstra. Most other ISP's have their own fibre backbone and their own DSLAM (exchange) equipment and only rely on/rent the last mile of copper to the house! Can't run Telstra on that rent!"

"Most other ISP's have their own fibre backbone"

My understanding of the situation is that TLS has the only fiber network in Australia and that runs between the exchanges.
From the fiber network at the exchanges there are copper lines to nodes and on to homes.
As far as I know Optus built a adsl system that runs of copper lines. But no body has built any fiber networks to date.
I have feeling that you have set youself up as some sort of authority on the technical aspects here and are in fact talking a lot of rubbish.
Could you show evidance that another teleco has a fiber network?
Lets find out who is the intelligent investor here, OK?
    Thanx.
by the way I have 18,000 @3.69 so up so far.
