Here's AFR's David Ramli's take on it:
"The next big question on the minds of shareholders will then become what TPG executive chair David Teoh does next.
The answer is simple: Amcom Telecommunications is his next most likely target.
TPG moved decisively to scuttle the $1.2 billion merger between Amcom and Vocus Communications by purchasing a 19.9 per cent blocking stake in the former.
While it bought the shares with the stated intent of voting down the deal without offering an alternative takeover offer, intents can change.
TPG would most likely attempt to see Amcom's share price whither on the vine before trying to buy it relatively cheaply later this year, secure in the knowledge that it can block any attempt by rivals to acquire it.
Amcom's products and experience targeting the corporate sector will bolster TPG's attempts to raise revenue from the business market. It already provides some of the cheapest business-grade broadband available today."
